HoLa Festival in the District
The HoLa Festival will begin with a special Kick Off event for their 15th year celebration on Saturday evening, September 27th beginning at 7:00 PM. In addition to authentic ethnic food, beverages, and cultural displays, the featured band “Orquesta D’Jaime Bonilla” will perform at the Bill Lyons stage along with the exciting Music City Salsa dancers. The event will stop promptly at 10:00 PM.
The Full Festival event will begin on Sunday, September 28th at 11:30 AM. The first few events will be low volume events such as a children’s play “Red Riding Hood” by the bilingual theater and the flamenca dancers. During the afternoon, three Latin bands will perform as well as several dance groups. Plus, there will be a circus, a dramatic “Parade of Nations,” children’s activities and more food and drinks. The Festival will conclude sharply at 6:00 PM.
The purpose of the Festival is not just fun and games. It’s a well-organized and carefully-planned program with the purpose of building cultural and communication bridges through art and education.
